Which NBA team has the largest fan base worldwide?
Based on our latest search data from December 2025, the LA Lakers are the most popular NBA team around the world in our fan index standings, accumulating a total of 46,080,000 interactions and engagements measured across web searches, website visits, youtube subscribers, reddit members and instagram followers. However, they do not come out on top in all these categories individually.
The Golden State Warriors are second in terms of total interactions worldwide with 44,160,000. The Cleveland Cavaliers jump above the Boston Celtics to 3rd due to a large instagram following, giving them a total of 20,626,900 interactions (less than half of the top two teams) while the Celtics total 17,118,500.

How much share of total support does each NBA team receive?
This means the LA Lakers attract 15.2% of all digital engagement for NBA sides across the world. The Golden State Warriors are not far behind with a share of 14.6%, the Cleveland Cavaliers gain 6.8% and the Celtics, 5.7%.

NBA teams by global website traffic
Our data shows that the Golden State Warriors receive more website traffic than any other NBA side, generating c.1,500,000 visits each month. The LA Lakers are second with 1,000,000 visits and the New York Knicks third with 566,000.

Which NBA team has the most fans in the United States?
Based on web searches and team website traffic data, the LA Lakers are searched online and are visited (10,792,100) over twice the amount of the next most searched NBA team, The Boston Celtics (5,311,100) in the USA each month, who rise to this position 3rd in the global figure for these metrics. The New York Knicks jump up to 3rd from 4th when accounting for search and website traffic worldwide.

Which NBA team has the largest share of support from outside the USA?
The Toronto Raptors have 84% of their search and website traffic coming outside the US – this is however somewhat of an anomaly as they are based outside of the USA (in Canada).
In terms of US based teams, Oklahoma City Thunder have the largest ratio of their total online fanbase coming from outside the US, with c.64% of the search and website traffic coming from international territories. The Brooklyn Nets are next with 52% of their total interest being international and the Golden State Warriors are after that with 51%.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are most reliant on a domestic fan base, with 83% of their online interest (search and website traffic) coming from the USA. The New York Knicks are 2nd for US fan reliance with 81%.

Which NBA teams are embracing youtube as part of their fan engagement strategy?
Orlando Magic have the largest youtube subscriber base relative to their monthly website traffic volume- with their youtube subs and monthly website traffic added together, 76% of this total was dedicated to youtube subs. This indicates youtube plays an integral role in their fan engagement.
The Charlotte Hornets are the least orientated towards youtube as part of their wider ecosystem, with a youtube ratio of just 12% when compared to their website traffic volume.
