Which US sports teams generate the most online traction around the world?
Based on our latest data from March 2026, the LA Lakers rank #1 for the most online traction out of any US sports team globally, recording 46,080,000 interaactions a month across search, website traffic, youtube subscribers, reddit members and instagram followers.
The Golden State Warriors place #2 with 44,160,000 giving the NBA the top 2 positions, while Inter Miami CF from the MLS are #3 registering 33,676,400 interactions each month across this criteria.

How much share of total support does each Top 10 US side get from within the USA?
The LA Lakers and Golden State Warriors gain significant support from outside the USA (46% and 51% respectively). This is by far the biggest non-US share in the Top 10 bar Inter Miami CF, who gain a huge 86% of their total online traction outside of the USA. This is akin to the stats seen in other global leagues such as the EPL.
Other NBA sides included in the top 10 – the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics record less interest outiside the US (78% and 72% respectively) but are still above average when compared to the rest of the top 10.
Teams from the NFL have a higher concentration of their support from the USA, with the Dallas Cowboys in #7 gaining just 8% of their total online engagement from outside the country. The Kansas City Chiefs in #8 recorded a slighlty higher non-US figure of 11% with the Pittsburgh Steelers in #10 recording the same number.

The LA Dodgers rank #4 in our list of the most popular US sports franchises in the world – they are also searched more than any other team bar the LA Lakers.
The New York Yankees rank #6 overall,proding a strong showing for MLB sides in the top 10 – they are also extremely popular in terms of web searches, with just the Lakers, Dodgers and Inter Miami searched more around the globe.
